Akṣobhya, [lang id =1028]阿閦鞞; [lang id =1028]阿閦婆; [lang id =1028]阿芻閦耶 unmoved, imperturbable; tr. [lang id =1028]不動; [lang id =1028]無動 also [lang id =1028]無怒; [lang id =1028]無瞋恚 free from anger, according to his Buddha-vow. One of the Five Buddhas, his realm Abhirata, Delightful, now being in the east, as Amitābha's is in the west. He is represented in the Lotus as the eldest son of Mahābhijñābhibhū [lang id =1028]大通智勝, and was the Bodhisattva (sa) jñānākara [lang id =1028]智積 before he became Buddha; he has other appearances. (sa) akṣobhya is also said to mean 100 (sa) vivara s, or 1 followed by 17 ciphers, and a [lang id =1028]大通智勝 is ten times that figure.
